About us

Stuart Hill

SMC (Tech), FBDO, CL

I qualified as an optical technician in 1990 whilst working for Harrods Opticians in central London. This experience introduced me to some of the more unusual and luxurious spectacle frame materials such as horn rim, tortoiseshell and even wood.

I later enrolled at East Anglia Universty in Cambridge and qualified as a Dispensing Optician. This led me to various job roles from training staff to managing stores, both for multiple and independent companies. After a few more years I decided to complement my studies further. I moved back to London where I qualified as a Contact Lens Optician.

From the making and accurate dispensing of spectacles, to the fitting of complex contact lenses, I have many years of experience in my field. This is what I bring to The English Opticians in La Cala de Mijas.

Marina Hill

BSc (Hons) Optom

I studied to become an Optician at the University of Granada, Spain, the place where I was born. Once I qualified, I moved to the UK where I completed further studies qualifying as an Optometrist at the University of London.

During this time I gained experience at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London (one of the world´s leading Eye Hospitals), the Royal Sussex Eye Hospital and the Princess Royal Eye Hospital. As my clinics were for hospital out patients, I gained very valuable experience in the detection and monitoring of eye conditions such as Glaucoma, Cataracts, Macular degeneration, Retinal and Optic nerve conditions, as well as changes caused by Diabetes, High blood pressure, etc.

It was also during this time that I developed my skills and passion for pediatric eye care. I find the care and management of children´s eye developement extremely rewarding.

After a combined 36 years of practice in the UK and Ireland (7 of them working toghether), having worked for some of the main Optical companies, and having become desilusioned with the way the optical pprofession is departing from eyecare and moving towards business, we decided to move to the Costa del Sol and start an Optometric practice where I can look after the eyes of my patients with the time and dedication they deserve and hand them over to my qualified team mate in the knowledge that they will be accurately dispensed with the most suitable frames and lenses. A place for honest, dedicated and personal eyecare.

-Idividual and different final look by stocking current designs only (we are constantly renovating our stock), and a variety of brands, designers and even handcrafted eyewear.

-We understand our cusomers have different budgets to spend on their glasses, so we have tried to apply our criteria to suit all budgets. We have glasses from as little as 89€ complete with prescription lenses and sunglasses from as little as 40€ with polarized lenses.

All our optical lenses are of the highest quality, produced by the world´s leading manufacturers. We ensure that the latest technology is available to our customers.
